Grigg parents visit

Joe's parents decided to use their timeshare this year in Williamsburg, VA, and we decided that we would meet them up there for a short vacation. What made it even more fun is that they flew into Atlanta on Saturday (March 14th) and then would drive up to Virginia with their friends the Fulmers (who flew into ATL a few days before them). It worked out great!
We made reservations at the Blue Willow Inn Saturday night. It's an Antebellum mansion that has been converted into a Southern buffet restaurant. On Saturday night they have a crazy seafood addition to their buffet, even though I don't eat seafood, there were plenty of other tasty things to try. Sharon still talks about how good everything was, everyone was raving about the crab legs and the salmon.

After dinner we went back to our house for a round of video games. Scene It is always a crowd favorite and we rocked some Rock Band! Steve and Sharon are fantastic rockers.
The parents and the Fulmers left Sunday morning for Virginia. Joe and I waited until Thursday to meet them there. More on Williamsburg in the next post!

Utah Visit: Ian & Tykena's Wedding!

Ian and Tykena were happily married on November 8, 2008 at the Fort Douglas Chapel (on the U of U campus). It was a very nice wedding and always seems to go quickly. I did take any pictures during the ceremony because I didn't want to ruin the moment! So here are some shots afterward of some of the people that came:
A view of the chapel
Neighbor friends
Kris & Rosie
Lissa, Sam & Robbie (and Viva)
Bishop Wadsworth performed the marriage
Signing the official Marriage License!

Here are some shots while we waited to be arranged for group shots

The reception was held at a relatives church, and the set up looked great.

The infamous line
Awesome Mike!
Joe, cousin Stuart, Sam

I arranged the flowers on the cake, unfortunately the flowers meant to adorn the cake went missing, so we improvised.

For some strange reason I didn't take a picture of the band actually playing. I also didn't take pictures of anyone dancing! Which is totally lame of me. But Mike was smart enough to video some of the awesome dancing by Joe, which you can see here! Mike also got Nate and Tykena dancing. The wedding was a success. Ian and Tykena are married and we are all excited. In more recent news they are expecting! Here is a picture of their fetus at 12 weeks. Totally crazy and awesome.

Utah Visit: Family pictures & Ian & Tykena's wedding dinner

In November we went back to Utah for Ian and Tykena's wedding. It was a good excuse to fly out for a visit since we weren't going to make it for Christmas (I couldn't get the time off of work). On Friday Joe and I met the family at Cafe Rio, because we always need to there when we come to Utah. Afterward we all went up to Memory Grove to take some family photos. It was the first "official" Grigg family photo session, so we all dressed up and tried to look cute. Even though the day was chilly and overcast, it made for a beautiful setting and the lighting was perfect for taking pictures. I don't have any of the official ones yet, but here are a few I snapped while moving between spots in the park.

This one was taken by Dana Sohm, the photographer we used

We had some time between photo taking and Ian & Tykena's wedding dinner, so we stopped over to Nate and Libby's house for some Rockband rock out! This started Joe's obsession with Rockband, which is why we had to get it for our Christmas present to ourselves.
Robbie was a great drummer and Sharon really got into being the lead singer.

Nate and Libby were great hosts and made us gourmet hot chocolate, each a different flavor!

For Ian and Tykena's wedding dinner we went to one of their favorite Chinese restaurants in Bountiful. The decor was very elaborate and the food was good. Here are some pictures of the people and speeches.Maid of Honor

After dinner a few of us went to the church where the reception would be to help set things up. It was a lot of work, and we didn't stay all night, but we managed to get most of it set up.
