reading together

I'll have you all know, Joe and I are going to continue reading together, even after the Twilight series. We have already started actually. We picked up The Outsiders on Saturday. I was surprised to find out that Joe hasn't read it or seen the movie; and seriously the movie with an all star cast http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0086066/ , how can you go wrong? I didn't realize how many names were involved, I did remember Swayze and the Karate Kid....
But reading together is awesome. I think what makes it great is that we can discuss what we are reading as we go. It's been fun, and I think very much worth while. I highly recommend it.

Eclipse

We finished Eclipse on Saturday. At this point I'm ready for Breaking Dawn, I have to see where she's going to take this. Joe and I both agree, there really isn't a Team Jacob, he's more of an annoyance really, because seriously, there's no way she can choose Jacob over Edward. The fighting over Bella was amuzing, with how calm and cool Edward was the whole time, but Jacob doesn't stand a chance.
I think that Breaking Dawn has a lot of potential to build on the story of Bella becoming a vampire. I think that it would be very interesting for her to write about what the changes are and how Bella does when she becomes a vampire. If she doesn't become a vampire I will be very disappointed.
This book was definitely more sexual, as we all know Bella was willing to give it up to Edward. Ultimately, this is a romance series, so of course there will be sexual content. Becky and I have talked about what age group these books are for, I would definitely have to say older teenager. Even though these books are less risque than some, I do think that some kids will misinterpret the behavior as appropriate, simply because it's written by someone that is LDS, so there will be LDS morals involved. But seriously, we are dealing with a girl who is in love with a vampire, I would think at that point LDS doesn't even apply........
Anyway, I ultimately have enjoyed the series and I'm ready for a resolution...... as long as it's the resolution I want :)

For Mom

Here are pictures from the Thornton wedding.

Another haircut

So I couldn't handle the mid length. I decided to go straight for the short hair. I'm still trying to figure out how I did it in the past. It will take some getting used to, but I already like it better than the longer hair. Plus it helps in the hot humid that we have here.

As you can see below, the humidity during my cousin's wedding was making my hair do the wave, bringing out some of the curl. Joe and I both think that I look like my mom, so that's fun.
I might start doing some tucking behind my ears, I'm still in experiment phase, so we'll see what happens. I'll post more pictures when it starts to look cuter :)

The Dark Knight

Joe and I saw The Dark Knight on Friday night with some friends. I was super excited about seeing it, ever since I saw the above poster I thought to myself how awesome and scary it was going to be. I totally loved the first new batman with Christian Bale, not just because he's totally hot, but also because I like this new dark nature of batman that they have going on. This movie did not disappoint in awesomeness, however, I was still bugged by they voice they have chosen for Christian to use while he's batman. It's a growling, cotton mouth voice, that sounds like he's going to spit up a lot of saliva when he's trying to sound mean. It's a bit distracting for me, but not enough distracting that I didn't still really like the movie.
And Heath, I was in love with Heath from "10 Things I Hate About You", which is a silly chick flick, but he was totally hot in it. His performance as the Joker was great, I really wish that his life had turned out differently because I would have liked to see where he was going from here with his career, I'm sure a lot of awesomeness could have ensued. Similar to Leonard DiCaprio's career, since The Departed. But alas, Heath is gone, but his performance was truly enjoyable...in a dark way.

New Moon

We finished New Moon last night. Mom and I already discussed how lots of people liked this second book the least. I'll have to agree. A book without a lot of Edward is not that awesome. Although, I did like the introduction of the werewolf story. It's fun to have a little more depth to the story and what not. Overall, I'm not swayed that there should be a "Team Jacob" I'm all about "Team Edward" vampires are way cooler than werewolves. Joe and I talked about this last night after finishing. I wouldn't want to be with a werewolf where he would morph into this huge monster wolf that wouldn't look anything like the person I was in love with. But with Edward, he's always a vampire, he doesn't morph into a bat, he always will look "human" and that's easier for me to deal with. So I'm making my judgement right now, even before we get into the third book, if Bella chooses to not marry Edward, and for some strange reason thinks that Jacob is better for her I will be very disappointed.
I still feel silly getting worked up over these things, but I might as well, it's fun to pretend sometimes.

funny

I love this stuff. You might need to click on the image to see the bigger size, I was trying to be discrete so it's a slightly awkward angle. Too bad their printer didn't mention they had spelled "meat" wrong......

All right, I have to admit, I enjoyed Twilight. I originally wasn't going to read it, and I was only maybe going to see the movie, but I wasn't interested in a lame vampire love story. I completely blame Joe actually. The other day he said that he was going to buy some books from Amazon and thought that we should also get Twilight. He thought we should see what it was like since so many people were getting into it. I wasn't completely sold then, but I liked the idea that he said he would read it to me at night. So it happened. Twilight arrived and we started the nighttime readings. It didn't take long until I was into it.
We finished the book last night. All weekend we read to each other; while waiting for his car's oil change, while he was installing the ceiling fan, while I made dinner Sunday, and instead of watching TV Sunday night, we read until late, finishing it.
I will say, there are a few things that I was irritated by in the book, mom and I have talked about how annoying Bella can be, but then we have to think about being 17 and in high school.
Joe and I have been talking about how our emotions (mostly mine) were so affected by the story. I could feel the tension between Edward and Bella (and you know what kind of tension I'm talking about), and then the stress of the whole James character and the issues he brought. So I have to give Stephanie Meyer props for getting me involved with the characters.
We will probably start the next book tonight.

I've been tagged!

I think this is my first game of blogging tag, so we'll give it a go. (I was tagged by Emily N)

3 Joys...

1. My husband! He's the best. It's fantastic to always want to be around him, and to know he feels the same about me. We are best friends and perfect as husband and wife.

2. My life. Things are going well for us. We are experiencing awesome things and growing together in ways I hadn't anticipated. I'm excited for what's going to happen next.

3. My family. I love them. Whenever I think about them I get excited. It's hard to be so far away, but we'll be living close again soon.

3 Fears...

1. Not being able to be pregnant and have babies. It's always been something I've been afraid of, not really sure why. I guess other than I really want to experience it, and I would be sad if I couldn't.

2. The Grand Canyon. When we took a back road adventure with Ben, Hode (their respective wives and kid) & the parents to see the western edge of the Grand Canyon, it was scary. We ended up in a part of the canyon with no rails or anything, you could walk right up to the edge. It freaks me out every time I think about it. Dad has some pictures in his office, and I get sick to my stomach every time I see them; it would have been so easy to fall off the edge. Super scary. (that's Joe in the picture getting too close to the edgle)

3. I am afraid of my spot being touched and being claustrophobed (if that's a word). If you know about the spot you know that I freak out when it's touched, and I do a huge freak out when I'm pinned down and it's touched. That's when major claustrophobia hits. Joe loves this game.

3 Current Obsessions/Collections...

1. Before I got my job I was obsessing about painting and stenciling. I painted two canvases and then didn't do anymore. I still want to get into it, I just don't take the time to do it. One day soon I'll make some awesome art.

2. Losing weight. I don't know if it's quite an obsession, I'm not starving myself yet, but I am sick of being fat. I've lost weight from my fattest point, but I would like to get back to college weight. Hopefully this year!

3. Getting out of debt! Our goal is to be out this year, but I think it might roll over into February '09, which is ok. I've been obsessing over Dave Ramsey, I started listening to his radio show on my way home from work. Being out of debt would be fantastic!

3 Random/surprising facts about myself...

1. You might be surprised that I feel totally inadequate at work. I feel like I've been making it up as I go along ever since starting at GS. I loved the GS job, and it became really enjoyable to me, almost to where I felt like I was getting the financial business down, but now in Atlanta they might think I know more than I really do :) I'll just keep pretending.

2. I love the Japanese obstacle course shows like Ninja Warrior (it was on G4). A possible American version, Wipeout, is on now, which is fun, not as challenging, but totally funny.

3. I have issues with people touching my stuff. Especially our new house. I'm trying to get over it, hopefully I'll relax soon.

Haircut!

I finally cut off my hair! After letting it grow for more than 4 years without much of a trim, I decided I was sick of it (plus I didn't style it very often, so what good was it anyway). On Saturday I went to Platinum Salon just up the street and had the girl cut off my pony tail. I told her how I wanted my hair cut and said to take as much as she could, with still leaving me some for the style. She ended up taking off 14 inches, which really surprised me. I'll be sending it in to Beautiful Lengths soon, hopefully they can make an awesome wig out of it.

<-- In this picture the twist-tie is marking 10 inches, which was how much we thought would be cut off.

this is what was cut off ↓

Here's the cut and style that I got from the salon. It's fine. You can't really tell what's happening with it, but it was more wavy than curly I guess.

Here's my first day of having short, curly, scrunched hair. It turned out ok, I have to figure out a way to fight the frizz.

I really wanted something that I could do in 5-10 minutes in the morning so that I don't have to wake up any earlier, but I'm having a hard time figuring out how to do it. If I can't get the hang of it, I think I'll try another cut with some more layers, then if that doesn't work it's all coming off, and I'll go back to the pixie style, which I totally loved. I'll keep you posted on the exciting developments!
